ThepeoplebehindScribaAI
An Italian innovation born from the collaboration between Algoretico and Lagiste23 — solving a decades-old problem with proprietary AI.
From an idea at Algoretico to a platform for the world
Legacy code is one of the biggest invisible threats to the global economy. Obsolete applications that still power core banking, insurance, logistics, ATMs and air traffic control — unable to evolve, impossible to replace, draining up to 80% of IT budgets just to keep the lights on. Rewriting them has always been considered prohibitively expensive.
The idea for Scriba was first theorised by Michele Laurelli within Algoretico, the AI company he founded. The intuition: a proprietary multi-agent AI architecture that doesn't simply translate lines of code, but understands their deep logic and rewrites them idiomatically — like an expert human developer would, but in seconds. Unlike generic solutions built on top of ChatGPT, Scriba is entirely proprietary and operates as private AI, with no data ever leaving the client's perimeter.
Scriba was then born as a spinoff of Algoretico, joined by Lagiste23, the Family Office led by Marco Landi (former President of Apple at Cupertino). Together, they created a vertical company that today offers an automated SaaS platform capable of converting any application written in any language into any modern language — with outstanding accuracy and military-grade security.
The message is clear: real AI innovation comes from Italy.

LinkedInHow we got here
Theorisation at Algoretico
Michele Laurelli theorises a proprietary multi-agent AI architecture for automated code conversion within Algoretico, his AI company.
Scriba is born
Scriba launches as a spinoff of Algoretico, joined by Lagiste23 (Marco Landi's Family Office). Joint investment to build a vertical company tackling the legacy code crisis.
R&D phase
Development of the proprietary multi-agent architecture: specialised AI models for parsing, semantic analysis, idiomatic code generation and validation. No generic models — fully proprietary.
First prototype
Working prototype converting COBOL to Java with full business-logic preservation. First validation on real enterprise codebases. The system acts as a 'digital archaeologist' of code.
Platform launch
Scriba AI goes live with 60+ languages, 100+ conversion paths and military-grade security. First System Integrator partnerships signed across Italy and Europe.
What drives us
We believe legacy code is not technical debt — it is institutional knowledge. Our mission is to preserve that knowledge while giving it a modern form, proving that real AI innovation can come from Italy and Europe.
Precision
Outstanding accuracy is not a marketing claim — it is an engineering constraint. Every conversion is validated against the source.
Transparency
No black boxes. Every transformation produces a diff report and full traceability of changes.
Innovation
Fully proprietary AI — no ChatGPT, no generic models. Multi-agent architecture, custom embeddings, fine-tuned models developed in-house.
Trust
Private AI: zero data retention, on-premise deployment, SOC 2 certified. Your code never leaves your control.
